World on Bike hits the road for a RTW tour

On the 3rd of April, Mikkel Brøndsted and Henrik Frederiksen set off from Copenhagen in an attempt to cycle around the world.

They plan a 70, 000 kilometer tour and estimate it will take 2-3 years to ride through a planned 50+ countries.

Why are they devoting such a huge chunk of their lives to such a grueling endeavor? This is what they have to say on their blog:

Cause it is an amazing way to travel: you get to see the full span of what this planet has to offer. From the huge metropolises to tiny little rural villages. Mountains, desert, forest, scrub, prairie, coastline, farmlands and rainforest. The food, the people, the traditions, the customs, the weather, the old, the young and their smiles.

The adventurous Danes are spinning their wheels towards Central Asia and are excited about the challenges of taking on Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Once through Asia it will be on to Australia, then they’ll hit the rainforests of Brazil, the Pampa of Argentine and of course no South America bicycle tour would be complete without a ride through the Andean countries.

North America is up next, then comes Africa and finally they’ll return home in triumph to Copenhagen.

Show your support for Henrik and Mikkel as their bicycle touring adventure gets off the ground.  Check out World on Bike and get in on all the excitement of an epic bicycle tour around the world.
