Recently, there’s been a spate of young Brits setting off to cycle the world.  Robbie Sage maybe joining the pack of global cyclists, but there’s one thing that sets him apart:  his guitar.

His will be a musical ride round the world; making music while traversing a diverse and changing cultural landscape.

He’ll be recording music as he pedals the planet, sampling the sounds around him.

To get a taste of what this trip is all about, check out a video introduction to Global Guitar.

Departure is scheduled for 26 February, 2011 from Robbie’s home in Scotland.  He’ll be heading towards Asia and then on to Australia before crossing Canada and finally heading back home to the U.K.

I think this excerpt from his blog will give you a good idea of what to expect from his updates from the road:

Everyone is capable of fulfilling their dreams. Ideas can form on their own, but usually they are inspired by others. Self-belief burns within us; fuelled by examples of others who have achieved similar feats. The idea and the belief that I can cycle around the world with my guitar recording music would never have come to me if I didn’t take inspiration from others. Below I pay homage to things that inspire me to do what I’m going to do.

I encourage anyone to follow what they want to do, what makes them happy. Allow it space in your mind everyday and take inspiration from others who have fulfilled their dreams or achieved similar dreams. Then it will begin to take over until nothing or nobody can stop you.

Global Guitar is a unique bicycle touring expedition.  If you’re a music lover, this is the bicycle touring blog for you.
