Both knowledgeable bike geeks and absolute newbies to bicycle mechanics will love this site.  Alex Ramon, AKA the Bicycle Tutor, is a genius at explaining how to perform bicycle maintenance. This site is incredibly well organized, with excellent photos and videos to illustrate all the steps to making your bike perform at its peak.

The first section you’ll want to check out is the Bicycle Repair Guide.  Here you’ll find 46 videos covering everything from How to Shift Gears and advice on Tuning up your Bike to more challenging topics such as How to Replace a Cartridge Bottom Bracket and How to adjust a Threadless Headset.

There are also detailed written instructions which accompany each video.

If you haven’t been able to solve your problem with a video, you can hop on over to the Bicycle Repairs Forum. That’s the place for answers to more specific bike mechanic questions.

This site is amazingly user friendly.  There’s even a page dedicated to Tutorial Requests.

The Bicycle Tutor is the best site on the web for help learning how to repair and maintain your bicycle.  Really.  That’s not an exaggeration.

This blog is now subscription only; far less useful than it used to be.

Thanks for pointing that out. Indeed, access to the Bicycle Tutor videos is now by subscription only: $5.95/month or $49.95/year.
On the positive side, reading through the step-by-step instructions is still free.
